Danielle Simpson-Cupido

CEO and Director

Danielle is a development leader with over 20 years’ experience in finance, operations, and programme management across South Africa.

She leads donor-funded health initiatives, focusing on translating strategy into sustainable impact.

Her expertise includes programme management, stakeholder coordination, and strengthening organisational performance, with a strong focus on HIV, SRH, and primary healthcare. She has held various senior roles and now serves as CEO of CHAPS.

Gerhard Wessels

CFO and Director

Gerhard has over 28 years of financial sector experience, having held roles as a Financial Consultant, Management Accountant, and Financial Manager.

He currently provides strategic leadership across finance, operations, compliance, and risk management, overseeing Finance, IT, and Operations. He holds a BCom and BCompt Honours in Accounting.

DR DOROTHY SEKHUKHUNE

Dr Dorothy Sekhukhune

Dorothy is the chairperson of the CHAPS Board of Directors.

She holds multiple qualifications in the fields of healthcare, business, and psychiatry.

Dorothy is an active member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa, and her passion lies in psycho-geriatric services, for which she established an NGO (Mosego Home Based Care).

Rudzani Rasikhinya

Rudzani sits on the Audit and Risk committee of CHAPS.

As a Chartered Accountant and CEO of Rudkor Consulting, her strengths lie in the finance sector.

Rudzani has extensive experience in financial management and leadership, having served as a CFO in government and state-owned enterprises over a period of 10 years.

Professor Mohamed Haffejee

Professor Haffejee is a founding member of CHAPS and serves on the Human Capital, Social and Ethics Committee.

He is Head of the Urology Department at the University of the Witwatersrand and has over 20 years of experience in his field, with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry.

Bulelani Kuwane

Bulelani serves on the Human Capital, Social and Ethics Committee at CHAPS.

He holds multiple qualifications in Business and Commerce, as well as a Comprehensive Diploma in Nursing.

He is a Public Health Specialist with more 18 years of experience in managing HIV and AIDS and TB prevention, care, and treatment programmes.

Dr Dino Rech

Dino is a recognized global health leader, published researcher, and ER physician with first-hand knowledge of how technology can both help and hinder clinical workflows.

He has dedicated his career to the advancement of global health through research and innovation, holding various leadership and technical roles at organizations such as the Centre for HIV and AIDS Prevention Studies (CHAPS), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Aurum Institute and Audere.

Dino was the Founder and CEO of CHAPS. Currently as the CEO of Audere, a Seattle-based digital health non-profit organisation, Dino enthusiastically drives Audere’s vision forward and implements its strategy. Dino obtained both his Medical and MBA degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand.
